[edit] How to connect sevearl DV cameras to a laptop?
You can use a PCMCIA IEEE 1394 (Firewire) adaptor, like the ones you can fine here. A 3-port adaptor will allow you to attach up to 4 cameras (because usually there's at least one Firewire input on the laptop itself).
Also, some cameras work OK when attached via USB.
