Challenge
HP was looking for a robust DirectShow multimedia platform in order to develop a WebTV PC application capable of receiving live feeds from remote encoders (HTTP streams), capturing live content, video mixing and streaming this content to a remote server.
Solution
HP's default approach would be to use DirectShow™ technology to develop the application. But they were looking for a faster solution. Vision Mixer SDK is a flexible and easy to use development platform that allows developers to create real-time PC-based capturing and video mixing applications, supporting transition effects and HD video. The SDK does not require DirectShow expertise and supports all COM-enabled development environments such as Visual C++, .NET (C#, Visual Basic), VB6, Delphi or C++Builder.
"MediaLooks Vision Mixer SDK turned out to be a much easier way to develop our application, compared to DirectShow, providing rich functionality and flat rate licensing. Sample applications, provided with the package and responsive support ensured short development time," - says Fabio Micheloni, Project Manager for Hewlett-Packard in Communications & Media Solutions.
Benefits
- Easy and rapid application development. HP benefited from the ease of development with Vision Mixer SDK finding it easier than with raw DirectShow.
- No DirectShow development expertise required.
- Flat rate licensing terms. The Vision Mixer SDK has a simple royalty-free licensing model. HP will be able to use the same SDK to develop similar projects in the future.
